George Frederick Handel (February 23, 1685 à 14 April 1759) was a German Baroque composer who is English-born in Halle, Germany (Halle is the largest city of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt). Handel moved to Hamburg in 1703 after being satisfied that the organist of the Protestant cathedral. He obtained a position as violinist and harpsichordist in the orchestra of the Opera. In 1706, Handel moved to Italy at the invitation of Gian Medici Gastone de ', as Handel had met in Hamburg in 1703/1704. In 1710, Handel moved to Hanover in Germany to become choirmaster George, Elector Hanover, who became King George I of Great Britain in 1714. In this year's Handel moved to London and stayed there for 35 years with an annual salary for the remainder of his life.
Handels was influenced by his father and the Duke's father wanted him Handels become a lawyer and have nothing to do with music or play an instrument but a clavichord was secretly strangled with ropes if his father would not be able to hear him play. Its father took him to Weissenfels, where his play on the organ in the chapel has drawn the attention of the Duke. The Duke was surprised by the capabilities Handels of the chapel he insisted that Handel be allowed to study music. The Duke thought it would be a crime to steal the world from genius.
Handel wrote several books including:
For example, opera. Araphina that made him famous in Italy in 1709 and Rinaldo, which brought fame to London in 1711
Dramatic Oratorios Messiah, for example in 1741 which is famous worldwide and Athalie in 1742 which is famous Dublin
100 cantatas and duets room 20
For example, church music. Gloria Patri (1707), dirge (1707)
Orchestra-example. Water Music (1717),
Instrumental and Chamber Music ~ Including 9 Trio Sonatas, 5 concertos for orchestra.
Vocal example. Ode for the birthday Queen Anne (1713)
Oratorio
An oratorio is a musical based on a Bible story or Scripture. It uses choirs, ensembles and solos tell a story, usually an organ or an orchestra accompanies the singers. Oratorios are not acted costumes or accessories. The Messiah is an oratorio. You go along and listen to the singing or the proximity of the Christmas period. This is because the Messiah is on life Christs and Christmas Day is his birthday.
The Messiah
In 1741, Handel began to biblical book Charles Jennens' of music, and 24 days later, the Messiah was complete (August 22 – September 14). The Messiah was written because Handel was discouraged his writing opera and after sending a libretto by Charles Jennings Handel was inspired and immediately began the preparation work music. The legend says that when Handel had finished his work, a servant of his heard to exclaim: "Hallelujah," "I do not think I shows all of heaven before me and the great God himself! "
The Alleluia:
A choir is a musical ensemble singers who perform the non-soloist of opera or musical theater production (or sometimes an oratorio). Handel was known as a master of the oratorio which no composer before or after has exceeded its capacity to write them. The Alleluia is typical of his writing, because he wrote 27 oratorios in the last part of his life and wrote many operas which indicates that he loved to compose music which consists of instruments and singing.
The Alleluia is a typical piece of music written in the Baroque because of the use of religious texts and the use of English to please the middle class. religious text can be found throughout the Alleluia, including in bars 36-51 where the text states that "He shall reign forever and ever." referring to Christ. Another thing that makes the Hallelujah typical of the period Baroque is the way Handel used a mixture of homophonic, polyphonic and a small amount of texture such as mono. Bars 33-41 of the Alleluia is homophonic and polyphonic are 41-51 bars.
